Supporting the maverick business owner
Ambitious business owners are mavericks because they are wilfully independent.
It is this independence which can make them highly successful if their talent is harnessed and their energy is used in the most effective way. Supporting the maverick business owner is one of our specialisms.
These business owners (typically SME owners), are very talented in their own specialism, whether that's for example, training, IT, coaching or consultancy, but spend too long working in the business rather than on the business.
This means that a lot of energy is being spent getting and supporting clients, but little time spent looking at growing the business or the direction that it should be moving in.
Often the business owner does not consider his own personal activity within his business. In particular how they are building their own personal brand, their reputation/credibility and whether they have the right advocacy. Many SME owners see themselves as distinct from their business, this can be fatal in securing new clients, and the success of the business.
I like to think I'm pretty good at generating business, being focused and knowing where my business is going. However, Jude gave me some great ideas, some food for thought and valuable insight into my business and how it could be improved.
